If you are not happy with your smile, especially with the color, you can always choose to do something about it. Cosmetic dentists have earned a reputation for their ability to transform smiles and give you a better reason to smile bigger and brighter.
Teeth Whitening or Bleaching
The first teeth whitening option that will be offered to patients is to go for a teeth whitening or teeth bleaching procedure. For this option, a patient can choose to subject himself to a take home whitening procedure or one that is administered in the dental clinic and referred to as an in-office procedure. Either way, the patient can achieve brighter or lighter teeth shade that will improve the quality of his smile. After the procedure, you can say goodbye to your yellowish or greyish teeth, and say hello to a more beautiful smile.
The problem with teeth whitening procedures, is that the results are not exactly permanent. The whitening effects that you achieve with a teeth bleaching procedure, however impressive and seemingly long lasting, will not last. Teeth naturally discolor with the food you eat, the beverages you drink, medications you take and other lifestyle activities you engage in. If you want a permanent solution, you have to look for another option, and a teeth whitening procedure is not it.
The Only Permanent Solution
If you wish to achieve a more permanent teeth whitening result, then you do not need a teeth bleaching but a prosthetic solution. If you want to have a permanent whiter and lighter smile, you can opt for a set of full crowns or dental veneers. This option will require the preparation of the teeth with drilling, to be able to fabricate the crown on top of it. The surface of the teeth is reduced and the dental cast or mould of the prepared teeth is sent to the laboratory, after which the crowns or veneers are cemented to the teeth.
